Chris Bohn, Founder of Protectstar.

Chris Bohn (Christopher Bohn), also known as “Mr. Protectstar,” is a German IT security expert and entrepreneur. In 2004, he founded Protectstar Inc. in Bradenton, Florida (USA) and serves as the company’s CEO. Today, according to the company, more than eight million users in over 100 countries use Protectstar solutions; customers include well‑known enterprises as well as government agencies worldwide—among them justice and security agencies and defense ministries. As CEO, Bohn leads an agile, internationally distributed team across seven countries that delivers enterprise‑level results through AI automation and lean processes while collecting minimal data. [3]

Career

Bohn grew up in Baden‑Baden and built expertise in IT security over many years before founding Protectstar. He studied economics and law at the University of Augsburg. [8] International stints—including London, Miami, Zurich, and Geneva—sharpened his focus on user‑friendly, vetted, and lean security solutions. [2]

Achievements and milestones

Bohn’s career includes early groundwork in mobile security: in 2005, he analyzed and categorized risks associated with mobile devices; in 2007, he introduced a secure deletion algorithm as well as a proprietary extended encryption approach (“Extended AES”). Starting in 2011, privacy apps such as Camera Guard™ and Micro Guard™ were added to block unauthorized camera and microphone access—long before such capabilities were available at the OS level. In 2017, the approach evolved into the Advanced Secure Deletion Algorithm (ASDA). Since 2016, AI‑based protection tools featuring Deep Detective™ have expanded the portfolio—among others in Anti Spy, Antivirus AI, and Firewall AI. These efforts have been recognized with awards including the BIG Innovation Award 2025, the AI Excellence Award, and the Fortress Cybersecurity Award. [1][3]

Particularly noteworthy is the iShredder™ series for forensically secure erasure: since its launch in 2011, it has been continuously expanded and ported to additional platforms. The solutions align with internationally recognized data‑erasure standards and have received honors such as the Fortress Cybersecurity Award. [1]

Additional milestones include the AI‑based anti‑spyware app Anti Spy (2019), an AV‑TEST‑verified malware detection performance of 99.87% for Anti Spy (2024), and the dual‑engine technology in Antivirus AI (since 2022) with a documented detection rate of 99.956%. [1][3]

Privacy & audits

Protectstar follows a data‑minimization approach. Its products and processes have been independently tested, including by AV‑TEST and DEKRA (MASA L1). [1]

BOHN AI Inc.: AI in security and interdisciplinary applicationsBOHN AI Inc., led by Bohn, develops machine‑learning methods for cybersecurity applications and also researches and markets experimental audio projects. Its areas of work range from anomaly/pattern detection in digital environments to audio formats that—according to the company’s own description—use specially composed frequencies and subliminal techniques. Under the brands Aquawhisperer, Mindwhisperer, and Roomwhisperer, BOHN AI offers audio products that, according to the company, are intended for water applications, learning/concentration, and room/ambience use. [10][11]

In 2024, BOHN AI published two essays that draw interdisciplinary connections between mathematics, music theory, and symbolism:“The Divine Universal Frequency: Mathematics and Music in the Secrets of the Sarcophagus of the Cheops Pyramid” and “YHWH: Far More Than a Mere String of Letters”. cb innovations: additional projects

Alongside Protectstar, Bohn leads cb innovations, a small German company for mobile design products and accessories. According to the company, cb innovations serves more than 300,000 customers in 102 countries and emphasizes craftsmanship, high‑quality materials, and thoughtful material selection. The brand positions itself at the intersection of design, technology, and security. [14]

The portfolio includes handcrafted smartphone cases such as the cb Hardcase (e.g., Italian leather, details in 935 sterling silver) and the cb Softcase (classic leather sleeve). In addition, cb innovations offers cb Time, a clock app with an integrated data vault based on AES‑256 (on‑device encryption, including additional security features). Selected alarm tones are by British composer Helen Jane Long, whose works are featured, among other places, in the Classic FM Hall of Fame. [15][16][17][18][19]

Philosophy: technology that empowers people

Bohn’s guiding principle is humanistic: “Technology must serve people—not the other way around.” [3] This translates into a focus on security as a fundamental right, implemented through privacy‑by‑design, minimal data collection, transparency, auditability, and excellent user experience. Sustainability is woven into processes and products (e.g., energy‑efficient solutions and bee sponsorships). [3] The goal is to turn abstract cybersecurity into concrete agency—for less fear and more digital sovereignty in everyday life. [3]

As a principle of accessibility, Bohn also formulates the “1‑cent‑per‑day” strategy: making essential protection available at very low, predictable cost. This treats security not as a luxury good but as part of basic digital services. [6][3]
